At the interface between art and architecture, the work Further Development takes up our incessant further cultural, social and political development and transfers this sense of never-being-complete allegorically to a building in public space. By means of a minimalist intervention, the finished and self-contained appearance of the building is fractured and transposed into a state of change and further development. By merely attaching steel reinforcement bars to the roof, the static structure of an already finished building is deconstructed and modification suggested. The incomplete becomes a metaphor on the possibility of responding to future changes, and visualizes art institutions’ efforts to understand the status quo as being neither finished nor final.
