Project description
In the context of the project Medicine Mountain: Learn to Love in Seven Days, seven performances took place on seven days in the Tyrol, whereby the artists’ groups kozek hörlonski (Thomas Hörl and Peter Kozek) and Sir Meisi (Ruby Sircar and Wolfgang Meisinger) questioned and reinterpreted alpine myths and genderized self-images as well as global media images of the Alps. Opportunity for this was provided in seven public performances, in which carnival characters and figures of legend appeared and were supplemented by Bollywood characters.
Besides the performances, which formed the basis for an artistic-documentary film, there was also a public meeting place: In Meetingmountain, interviews and discussions took place with experts on Bollywood, carnival masquerade, and tourism.
The performance space was located between places significant in different epochs and reception circles: the masques paraded from the “Geierwally Hütte” to the Alpine zoo, the Haus der Fasnacht (Carnival) in Imst, and on to Lake Nassereith, Absam and Alpbach.
The illustrated stories operate between universal, shared aspects of alpine legendary figures, touristic image production pertaining to the area of the Tyrol, and the projections that drive Hindu characters from the epics and myths of Bollywood films into European mountain landscapes, where they hope to experience all-encompassing love.
